Sole Food
Sole Food is a cast aluminum waffle iron. It was inspired by the first pair of shoes I received after walking onto the Stanford Varsity Cross Country team and the founding story of Nike. Taste sweet success!
Trial and Error
The process of creating my waffle iron was full of experimentation: experimenting with cast-able geometries, with the ShopBot CNC, and with different methods of cleaning my oil-stained hands from sand casting. Throughout the project, I learned the importance of prior planning. Fixing a casting pattern is much faster than post-machining. I also learned how to design under the constraints of tooling, materials, and my own body; always be ready to iterate to fit the needs of the situation. Most importantly, I learned how much I love working with my hands.
